Caribbean Airlines today announces the appointment of Mr. Robert Corbie as Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Corbie, an experienced airline executive and operations professional, started his career at BWIA as a customer service agent and worked in many different positions, moving up the ranks as Director of Airports and Senior Director Operations.

At Caribbean Airlines, he has served as Regional Director Sales, and more recently as Vice President, driving the airline to surpass industry standards of on-time performance. Under his tenure, the airline has added new routes, upgraded its fleet, boosted Cargo and Duty Free operations, and has been voted the “Best Caribbean Airline” by the World Travel Awards for two consecutive years.

Additionally, he has been responsible for the integration of the Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines brands and has successfully positioned the airline as a leader in the industry.

In November 2010, Mr. Corbie was appointed as acting CEO and continues to hold this position as he brings 28 years of industry experience to his new role as Chief Operating Officer. The Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment on 14 March, and Caribbean Airlines Chairman, George M. Nicholas III says “Congratulations to Mr Corbie as we evolve into a globally renowned airline with exceptional team members".
