Port-of-Spain, 26 August 2011 – On 24 August 2011, Caribbean Airlines’ inaugural direct cargo freighter service flew into Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Guyana.
The weekly cargo flight, which will offer direct service to Guyana on Wednesdays, comes just nine days after the airline signed a General Sales and Service Agreement (GSSA) with PAS Cargo USA, to market cargo out of the USA. The agreement allows for PAS to market CAL Cargo across the USA including Los Angeles, New York and the N.E USA and well as South Florida, providing direct presence in the core Caribbean communities and commercial centres across the USA.
Guy Wilson, Caribbean Airlines Senior Manager Cargo states, “Direct freighter service into Guyana has been a long time coming and a major milestone for both the airline and the Guyanese market. Guyanese traders account for a major fraction of our cargo market share and we at CAL Cargo are pleased to offer our customers the convenience and ease of trade with the direct freighter service.”
The direct freighter will operate between Miami and Guyana each Wednesday, with one stop in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, offering our customers access to and from both US and Caricom markets. Customers may contact Caribbean Airlines Cargo at 669-3000 ext 2671 or visit our websites www.caribbean-airlines.com or www.airjamaica.com for freighter schedules and information.
