As the time draws near for the Faces of Caribbean Airlines finale, the airline is making its own preparations for the big event. Screenings were held in New York, Miami and Jamaica resulting in 60 finalists being chosen for the exclusive online show set to take place at RISE, at the prestigious Carlton Savannah. With over 950 contestants to choose from, the online brand ambassador search received almost 200 000 hits on its website www.facesofcaribbeanairlines.com, which resulted in more than 1.5 million page views and about 85 000 new visitors to the site in just two months. Caribbean Airlines is confident that social media campaigns are here to stay, and will form a large part of its marketing strategy in the future.
At the event, the winners will be judged on their personality and knowledge of the airline and its destinations. The judges and voting public will have the opportunity to vote during the event, and will select 20 girls and 10 guys to be known as the “FACES” of Caribbean Airlines. The 30 “Faces” will appear in the media and take part in publicity photos following the announcement of the winners.
Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Laura Asbjornsen, indicated that the search has the potential to become an annual signature event for the airline. “We want to be able to showcase the warmth of the islands and the diversity of Caribbean people and can think of no better way than using interactive media to connect with the Diaspora in all our markets. Eleven participants are coming to Trinidad especially for the event from the US, Canada, Barbados and Jamaica. We encourage everyone to log onto the website www.facesofcaribbeanairlines.com to view the event live and to vote for their favourite participant especially as the public vote accounts for 25% of the overall score”
The lucky 30 winners will be used as brand ambassadors when the airline conducts its promotional activity in its various markets. The first big event will be at Miami carnival in October. The success of the event is evident, as many other companies have lent their support. The lucky 60 participants will all receive UTC units worth 250TTD with FLOW providing the broadband connection to enable the live streaming of the online event. In fulfilling its social responsibilities as a corporate leader in Trinidad, the airline has teamed up with Arrive Alive to promote road safety and will even have a signature non-alcoholic cocktail made especially for the event.
For more information log onto www.facesofcaribbeanairlines.com to vote during the live event on 10 September from 7pm.
