Today, the Jamaican Industrial Disputes Tribunal issued an "Order To Refrain From Industrial Action" against JALPA with respect to the dispute between CARIBAL Limited (a fully owned subsidiary of CAL) and CAL’s Jamaican pilots, and in particular "that the industrial dispute shall not take place".

Kingston, September 16 — Air Jamaica yesterday reinstated flights to Orlando with the 12:15 p.m. departure of Flight BW474. With this service, Air Jamaica will be the only carrier operating non-stop flights between Kingston and Orlando.

Due to the weather associated with Tropical Storm Maria, BW416 scheduled to operate on Saturday 10 September from Trinidad to Jamaica via St. Maarten will no longer stop in St. Maarten. BW 416 is now scheduled to depart Port of Spain at 8.00am and arrive in Kingston, Jamaica at 09.45am non-stop.

27 May 2011, Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago W.I. - Days before the deadline for a notice of closure of the largest aviation merger in the Caribbean, Caribbean Airlines has finalised its acquisition of Air Jamaica. The deal was made official at the Office of the Prime Minister in St. Clair, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Minister of Finance, Winston Dookeran, and Jamaica's Finance Minister, Audley Shaw, signed the agreement which was witnessed by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Attorney General Anand Ramlogan, and Works and Transport Minister, Jack Warner.

20 May 2011, Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago W.I. – Caribbean Airlines has launched a non-stop service from Port-of-Spain to Kingston. The flight will operate twice weekly, and passengers will be able to get from Port of Spain to Kingston non-stop on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This non-stop service is in addition to the nine direct weekly flights already offered by the Trinidadian carrier, making it possible to get to Jamaica eleven times a week from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

15 April 2011, Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago, W.I. – This summer, Caribbean Airlines will be operating a special service to a third Florida destination. From Friday 15 April 2011, in addition to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, customers can book flights for the months of July and August to Orlando, Florida.

Piarco, 26 March 2011 - Caribbean Airlines will be adding 16,616 extra seats to its inventory increasing existing capacity on its domestic operations for the month of April. This is to accommodate increased demand for travel between Trinidad and Tobago, for the Easter weekend and the upcoming Tobago Jazz Festival.

Beginning 01 April 2011, Caribbean Airlines will enhance its schedule to include double daily return services to Grenada out of Port-of-Spain on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. These flights are in addition to the return jet services currently operated into the Maurice Bishop International Airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which continue onto JFK International. This brings Caribbean Airlines’ operations to 24 flights weekly between Trinidad and Grenada.

Port of Spain, 16 March 2011 - Caribbean Airlines recorded ones of its busiest periods for the just concluded Carnival season. From 27 February until 13 March 2011, the Trinidadian airline transported almost over eighty-five thousand passengers. “During this period, if we take into account both our international and domestic traffic, the airline transported 85, 808 customers with the total number for international traffic standing at 60,129 passengers. The domestic operation transported just under half that number at 25, 679 customers,” stated the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications Laura Asbjornsen.

On 28 January 2011 Caribbean Airlines added 3,148 more seats to its inventory increasing its existing capacity for its domestic operations especially for the upcoming Carnival period. Ten of these extra flights will be jet services in addition to the Dash 8 equipment commonly used on the domestic route.

On 26 January 2011 Caribbean Airlines signed the official purchase agreement with Avions de Transport Regional (ATR) for the purchase of nine (9) ART -72- 600 aircraft. The deal was finalised at an official signing ceremony which took place at the offices of the Ministry of Works and Transportation in Port-of-Spain Wednesday afternoon. In attendance were the Minister of Works and Transport, the Honourable Jack Warner, Caribbean Airlines Chairman George Nicholas III, Chief Executive Officer (Ag) Robert Corbie and ATR representatives.

On 01 November 2010, Caribbean Airlines aircraft 9Y-BGI operated its inaugural flight on the Kingston Toronto route. The CAL aircraft, which was specially branded to service this route, contains the Air Jamaica logo reflecting the airline's acquisition of Air Jamaica earlier this year. The aircraft will be based at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica, and is set to operate the route under flight numbers JM 78 and JM 79.

Caribbean Airlines wishes to advise the airline will be adding a number of additional flights from Trinidad to Tobago to facilitate the extra demand for the upcoming Divali holiday weekend. Great Fete weekend will be off to a "great" start for vacationers planning to travel between Trinidad and Tobago, as Caribbean Airlines will be drastically increasing the number of domestic flights for the popular fete that takes place this coming weekend in Tobago. As it will be adding fifty-six (56) extra flights for the holiday weekend, the national airline is doing its part to ensure that those wishing to travel to and from the sister isle have a better opportunity to arrange their travel to Tobago, avoiding the extra rush in domestic travel that is associated with Great Fete weekend.

On 14 July, Caribbean Airlines along with LIAT and the Caribbean Development Bank of Barbados hosted the launch of the book "Don't Burn Our Bridges—The Case for Owning Airlines" written by Jean S. Holder. "Don't Burn Our Bridges" is the first of a trilogy dealing with air transportation, tourism and the socio-political issues documenting the history of Caribbean airlines and attempts to demystify the complexities of such concepts as deregulation, yield management and a la carte pricing.

Due to strike action currently being experienced at regional carrier LIAT, Caribbean Airlines will be scheduling extra flights from Friday 18 June 2010 until 20 June 2010. The proposed destinations for operation of a CAL Dash 8 and a Boeing 737 aircraft will be as follows:

Caribbean Airlines has been monitoring the preparations for the G20 Summit in Canada and has been informed by the relevant authorities that there will be “significant travel disruptions” during the Summit which is scheduled to take place from 26 June until 27 June in Toronto. Customers travelling from Toronto to any Caribbean Airlines destination are recommended to depart for Lester Pearson International Airport much earlier than usual in the event that any traffic pile-ups occur in order to arrive at the airport 3 hours ahead of their scheduled flight departure time. Caribbean Airlines would like to apologise to its passengers for any inconvenience, but cannot accept liability for delays or cancellations during this period as these are due to circumstances beyond its control.

Caribbean Airlines launched a new reservation and booking system on 8 March 2010 in an effort to increase functionality and cost savings which are needed to further improve its service offering to customers,

Due to work currently being done to our reservations systems, booking and payment transactions will be interrupted from 7pm Friday 5 March until 11am Saturday 6 March 2010 on our website and from 7pm Friday 5 March until 10:30am Saturday 6 March 2010 at our ticketing offices and call centres. During this time, customers attempting to purchase tickets via these channels will not be able to make bookings or conduct payment transactions.

The employees of Caribbean Airlines joined the growing charitable efforts in Trinidad and Tobago to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti which tragically struck the country on 12 January 2010. CAL employees heeded the call and gathered in solidarity for their Caribbean neighbors by donating 13,750 dollars to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Caribbean Regional Representation Office in just under a week. Capacity Building officer of the organisation Marylee Ellis explained that the response from the CAL employees proved that every contribution, no matter how small, was important.

On Saturday 16th January 2010 the Hon. Baldwin Spencer, the Hon. David Thompson and Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Ministers of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, respectively, countries which are the major shareholders of LIAT (1974) Ltd, met at the Barbados Hilton Hotel with the LIAT Chairman, Jean Holder, other directors of the Board, the Acting Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Brian Challenger and members of the Executive management staff, at their regular quarterly meetings held to review the airline’s performance.

Caribbean Airlines wishes to advise that Unite, the trade union that represents British Airways’ (BA's) cabin crew, announced that industrial action will take place between 22 December 2009 and 2 January 2010. Caribbean Airlines newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Captain Ian Brunton yesterday announced new changes to the airline's top management. At an internal meeting organised for all staff at the company's head office at Piarco, Captain Brunton explained that the company was seeking to streamline its operations and that this would start from the very top. "This does not mean that Caribbean Airlines will be cutting jobs. We are simply reviewing all aspects of the operation to ensure that we are conducting our affairs in the best possible way."

Caribbean Airlines’ is doing its utmost to bring its operations back to normal despite the distribution problems associated with the quality of fuel obtained by its suppliers. Tobago operations resumed at approximately eleven o’clock this morning, Wednesday 20 May 2009, with normal schedules recommencing thereafter on the domestic air bridge. 

Caribbean Airlines has been advised from the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago that there has been a disruption in the fuel supply for the airline. High sulphur content in the jet fuel needed to power the aircraft has rendered the aircraft fuel unusable causing many of the airline’s services to be either delayed or cancelled. Caribbean Airlines wishes to advise all passengers that effective immediately, all flights between Trinidad and Tobago will be cancelled until 10am tomorrow Wednesday 20 May 2009. Also affected tonight, Tuesday 19 May 2009, is flightBW 310 heading to Caracas from Piarco International Airport.

Enhanced fleet will increase customers’ flying opportunities beginning 15 November 2008

Hard on the heels of the launch of new passenger flights to South Florida, Caribbean Airlines has now further augmented service to that market with the addition of a new “third” cargo service to Trinidad from Miami starting today June 11th - the air cargo hub of the region. This is in direct response to an increased demand for cargo airlift between Trinidad and the United States.

Caribbean Airlines announced today that it is expanding its service to Florida with the addition of four weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale. The new route will be launched on May 22nd 2008, offering more flexibility for service to South Florida. Caribbean Airlines is the only carrier servicing both Miami and Fort Lauderdale International Airport from Trinidad. 

Caribbean Airlines announced today that it is further expanding its service to New York City with the addition of a third daily service from July 1st 2008. Caribbean Airlines’ enhanced flight service between Port-of Spain, Trinidad and London, Gatwick Airport took effect on March 25 2007. These direct flights are part of Caribbean Airlines codeshare agreement with British Airways. On March 25, flight BW2900 left Bridgetown, Barbados for Gatwick at 4:40 pm. The service was operated on a Boeing 777 jet aircraft.

Caribbean Airlines recorded a 93.9% on-time performance (OTP) for February 2007, surpassing the aviation industry standard of 85% and the airline’s January average of 92%. The 93.9% average included 13 days of 100% OTP and 5 consecutive 100% OTP days from February 5-9. 100% OTP indicates that all flights to all destinations departed at the scheduled time or earlier. The airline’s OTP average to date for March is 94.74%.
