Delayed or Missing Baggage
BaggageIf your checked-in baggage does not arrive with you at the airport, please locate a Caribbean Airlines Representative and advise them of the situation. Caribbean Airlines will do all possible to have your baggage returned to you often within 48 hours. You will need to produce your ticket and boarding pass as the baggage identification sticker/number is placed on this document. This will aid in tracing the bags whereabouts. You will also be required to complete and sign a Property Irregularity Report Form. (Please note that this must be done before leaving the airport) If the bag/s has been delayed you would be offered two options: Conditions as they apply to each option:- If your baggage has not been located within seven (7) days, a claim should be filed with the airline. At this point, a secondary search will be initiated. You will be contacted immediately should we be successful in locating your baggage. On the other hand, if our efforts are to no avail, your claim will be settled in accordance with the applicable international conventions. Claims for interim expenses due to delayed delivery of baggage / claims for missing baggage must be filed within twenty-one (21) days. Note: If your luggage has been damaged, you must notify a Caribbean Airlines Representative before leaving the airport as this substantiates that the damage occurred while in our care. Based on the extent of your damage, we will take a report. A written claim must be submitted within seven (7) days. Please note: Caribbean Airlines assumes no liability for damage such as scratches, scuffs, dents, cuts, wheels, handles, pockets, locks, zippers, pull straps, or damage due to over-packing or manufacturer's defects. Additionally, no liability is assumed for damage caused as a result of the bag's contents. When filing a Baggage Claim you are required to submit your PIR, Claim form, copy of your boarding pass and baggage tags. The time bar rules apply: 21 days for delayed and 7 days for damaged bags. (Article 31). All claims should be accompanied by supporting documents e.g. Hotel bills and transportation receipts, etc. If you have left an item on your flight or at the airport, please contact Customs or the Lost and Found Office of the airport at your departure or arrival points. |
